Michael D. Watson / Watson Art Studio
My background and training is in art. I have a BFA in illustration and graphic design. I have been creating pictures for as long as I can remember. First it was drawing them, then it was painting them and now my medium of choice is painting with light and a camera. My goal is to make images that are more than straight portraits but that tells something about the individual. When I am allowed to take the image farther and create more of an art image, then I am in heaven. I shoot mostly digital but have been playing with film again, specifically medium format film through some old Rolleicord cameras. The photos one can achieve with these cameras are virtually fine art.
HF product usage
I came across Holdfast Gear quite by accident. When I saw the Moneymaker on the internet I thought, “this could be the perfect camera strap system for me.” It is all that and then some. The styling has a distinct western look, which I love. I actually get compliments on how cool it looks. When is the last time you received compliments on a camera strap? Looks aside, how it functions is more important and it does that very well. Two full size cameras with grips balance very nicely with this system. All of the pressure is off of your neck and onto your shoulders. Consequently I am much less fatigued after a photoshoot and as you get older you will appreciate this more. The cameras glide up to shooting position very smoothly on the “D” rings. All of the components are made from top grade materials and the fact that it is made in the U.S.A. is a big plus with me. I have the three, camera system made out of Bison and it is a work of art. Oh, the leather smells really, really good.
